Thanks to last week’s survey I’ve managed to include a lot of the information requested by those who voted.

As part of the 4 Phases site I’m also going to include an opportunity to win a free copy of the soon-to-be released 26 Week Internet Marketing Plan.

It’s a busy time!

‘4 Phases of Internet Marketing’ Membership Site COMING SOON

In the next few days I’m going to be launching a membership site called ‘The 4 Phases of Internet Marketing’. Membership will be free of charge to regular Purple Internet Marketing readers.

As part of the site I’ll be offering a 50-page PDF report, explaining the 4 Phases of Internet Marketing and giving examples of Internet marketing methods appropriate for each phase.

Thanks to last week’s survey I know that many people want advice on search engine optimization, so I’m going to include 8 key areas to focus on for your website as part of the report.

I also noticed in the survey results that there were many other methods of Internet marketing that you were keen to find out more about - so I’ll try and include as much additional information as possible.

Another benefit of 4 Phases membership will include a chance to win a free copy of the 26 Week Internet Marketing Plan - my soon-to-be-launched 4 DVD, 4 workbook and 5 CD package for marketing managers, business leaders and entrepreneurs.

What Is Digg And Should It Be Part Of Your Internet Marketing Strategy?

What is Digg?

Digg is a Social News powered website that allows users to ‘vote’ on the most popular news stories of the day. Because it is the users that decide on the relevance of each news story, it could be argued that the stories listed as most popular on Digg are a more accurate reflection of what’s hot and what’s not in comparison with a traditional news provider.

To Digg or Bury… that is the question

All stories that are featured on Digg are submitted by individual users. Other users then have the option to Digg (vote for) submitted stories as something which may be of interest or of use to other users. Users may also decide to Bury (vote against) stories which helps to eliminate spam.

Other Social News sites are available

Although there are other Social News websites such as Reddit and Netscape, Digg continues to be by far the most popular as we speak.

Do many people from your industry actively use Digg?

Reaching the Digg home page by having a news story of your own being ‘Dugg’ can bring an enormous amount of traffic to your website - although whether or not that traffic will be useful for you is another story. Take time to research whether or not there are many news stories that relate to your industry before spending too much time ‘Digging’.

Don’t just promote your own stories

If you decide that it may be worthwhile to use Digg as a marketing tool for your own business, make sure that you take the time to start commenting on other stories relevant to your industry before attempting self-promotion. This will help you learn how the Digg phenomenon works before approaching your own marketing from the wrong angle!

What is a Blog?

A blog is an online diary or journal. The term ‘blog’ is a shortened version of ‘web log’. A blog is usually a collection of comments revolving around one particular topic or perspective.

Although blogs have been around for over ten years, it is only within the last couple of years that they have started to generate mass appeal.

One of the most popular ways of starting a first blog is to use the free online blogging service, Blogger.com, which is now owned by Google.

Many businesses are now recognising the enormous marketing potential that a blog offers through RSS technology and have started to consider the medium as part of the corporate communication mix.

Wordpress is probably the most well-known open-source blogging software. It can be personalised to suit any businesses needs. Problogger by Darren Rowse gives a good example of what a professional blog can do for business.
